Sand artist · Artistic director of Sable en Scène
Originally from Saint Petersburg, Marina Sosnina is one of Europe's most recognised sand artists.
A graduate of the Institute of Theatre Arts after training in stage design, she has developed a visual language at the meeting point of classical music and theatre since 2007. Her precise, poetic drawing turns matter into living narrative.
Based in Casablanca since 2022, she leads Sable en Scène in Morocco and creates work especially for young audiences.
A language for the stage
Each image appears, transforms and makes way for the next
Marina composes her images with the score, narration and rhythm of the performance. On the light table, sand becomes a face, a landscape or movement. A camera transmits the live creation to the large screen.
